Question 1

What should we wear?

Accepted Answer

I recommend choosing soft, neutral tones and comfortable outfits that complement each other without matching perfectly. Once your session is booked, I’m always happy to offer guidance on what photographs beautifully.

Question 2

What if my child doesn't cooperate?

Accepted Answer

Don’t worry! There’s no expectation for little ones to sit still or behave a certain way. These sessions are relaxed and playful, allowing space for cuddles, giggles, breaks and all the little moments in between.

Question 3

I’m always behind the camera. What if I feel awkward in front of it?

Accepted Answer

You’re certainly not alone! You don’t need to know how to pose or do anything special. I’ll gently guide you throughout, encouraging natural interactions so you can focus on enjoying time with your little ones.

Question 4

What ages are Mummy & Me Sessions suitable for?

Accepted Answer

These sessions are for mums and their children of all ages, from newborns and babies to toddlers, school-aged children and teenagers. It’s never too late to capture the special bond you share.

Question 5

Can Grandma join our Mummy & Me session?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! These sessions can be a beautiful way to celebrate generations of love. Whether it’s Grandma, Mum and the children together, or a special moment between Grandma and her grandchildren, we can capture the connections, cuddles and memories that make your family unique.

Question 6

What should I bring with me?

Accepted Answer

Bring along your little one’s favourite toys, books or anything they love to play with! These little things help them feel comfortable and settled, allowing me to capture natural, authentic moments of play, laughter and connection. It’s often the simplest things that bring out those genuine smiles and beautiful little interactions you’ll want to remember forever.

Question 7

When is the best time to book a milestone session?

Accepted Answer

Milestone sessions can be enjoyed at any age, but some lovely stages to capture are around 3–4 months, when your little one is becoming more alert and smiley, 6–9 months when they may be sitting unaided, and around 12 months to celebrate their first birthday. Every baby develops differently, so there’s no right or wrong time — we can capture whatever stage your little one is at.

Question 8

What should my baby wear?

Accepted Answer

I recommend simple, timeless outfits in soft, neutral or complementary colours that keep the focus on your little one. I’m always happy to offer guidance on what photographs beautifully, so you can feel confident choosing something special for their session. Please know we also have a selection of outfits for you to use too.

Question 9

What happens if my baby is unsettled or doesn't want to smile?

Accepted Answer

Please don't worry! Babies have their own little personalities, moods and ideas about how things should go. There’s no pressure for perfect smiles or poses. We’ll take our time, allow plenty of opportunities for cuddles and comfort, and capture their natural expressions and personality as they unfold.

Question 10

Can parents and siblings be included in the photographs?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! Milestone sessions are a lovely opportunity to capture the connection between your little one and the people who love them most. If your package includes family photographs, we can incorporate some beautiful images of you together, too.

Question 11

Can we bring a favourite toy or comforter?

Accepted Answer

Of course! A favourite teddy, comforter or little toy can help your baby feel more at ease in a new environment. These familiar treasures can also make lovely little details to include in their photographs.

Question 12

What should we do to prepare for our session?

Accepted Answer

The best thing you can do is arrive with a relaxed mindset and let your little one be themselves. If possible, make sure they've had a little rest and a feed beforehand, and bring anything they might need during the session. Most importantly, there's no need to practice smiles or poses — we'll capture the magic in their own little way.

Question 13

Can I book sessions for more than one milestone?

Accepted Answer

Of course! Watching your little one grow is such a special journey, and booking sessions at different stages is a wonderful way to document all those changes. From their first smiles to sitting unaided and celebrating their first birthday, you can build a collection of memories that tells the story of their early years.

Question 14

What if my baby isn't sitting up unaided yet?

Accepted Answer

That's absolutely fine! Every baby develops at their own pace, and milestone sessions are about celebrating your little one exactly as they are. We’ll work with their current abilities and capture beautiful, natural photographs without rushing them into a position they're not ready for.

Question 15

When should I book my newborn session?

Accepted Answer

We recommend booking during your pregnancy, ideally in your second or third trimester, to allow us to plan ahead for your little one’s arrival. We can pencil in a date around your due date and adjust it once your baby arrives.

Question 16

When should my Newborn Session take place?

Accepted Answer

Newborn sessions are usually lovely within the first few weeks after birth, when your baby is still very little. However, every baby is different, and beautiful photographs can be captured at any age. We’ll work with you to find the best time for your family.

Question 17

What if my baby cries or won't settle?

Accepted Answer

That’s absolutely okay! Newborns are still adjusting to the world, and needing comfort is completely natural. We’ll take things slowly, follow your baby’s cues and allow time for cuddles, feeds and soothing whenever needed. There’s no pressure for your baby to be settled the whole time.

Question 18

What should I bring with me?

Accepted Answer

Please bring everything you would usually need for your baby, including nappies, wipes, milk or feeding essentials, a spare outfit and any comfort items. It’s always helpful to have a few extra supplies on hand, just in case. Please also bring any clothing or special items you wish to be incorporated into your session.

Question 19

Can we include parents & siblings into the session?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! Your newborn session is a wonderful opportunity to capture those first connections as a family. Parents and siblings are very welcome, and we’ll gently guide you through natural, comfortable moments together.

Question 20

What if my baby arrives early or late?

Accepted Answer

Babies arrive in their own time, and we completely understand that due dates are only estimates. If your little one arrives earlier or later than expected, just let us know as soon as you can, and we’ll do our best to rearrange your session.

Question 21

What should we wear?

Accepted Answer

Choose outfits that make you feel comfortable and confident! I recommend coordinating colours rather than matching everyone exactly. Neutral tones, soft colours and complementary textures photograph beautifully. Most importantly, wear something that feels like you!

Question 22

What if my children don't behave or won't sit still?

Accepted Answer

Don't worry — that's all part of being a child! Your session doesn't need to be perfectly posed to create beautiful photographs. We'll take things at your family's pace, embrace the silly moments and capture those genuine smiles and connections along the way.

Question 23

Do we need to know how to pose?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not! I'll guide you throughout your session with gentle prompts and direction when needed. You don't need any modelling experience — just come ready to relax, have fun and be yourselves.

Question 24

Can the whole family be included?

Accepted Answer

Family sessions are all about celebrating your connections. We welcome every family member to be a part of your Family Session - we'd love to meet Grandparents, Parents, Children, Aunts & Uncles and more!

Question 25

What if my child won’t cooperate or doesn’t want their photo taken?

Accepted Answer

That’s absolutely fine! There’s no expectation for your child to pose, smile or even look at the camera. We’ll work at their pace and capture natural moments as they happen.

Question 26

What if my child needs a break during the session?

Accepted Answer

Breaks are always welcome. SEND sessions are flexible and child-led, so we can pause, take some time out or change the pace whenever your child needs it.

Question 27

What do we wear for our session?

Accepted Answer

Christmas jumpers, cosy pyjamas or a lovely festive outfit all work beautifully for your session. If you're able to coordinate your outfits, rather than everyone wearing exactly the same thing, it will give your photographs that extra polished and timeless feel.Think complementary colours, textures and tones that work beautifully together and with your chosen Christmas backdrop.

Question 28

How many people can attend?

Accepted Answer

As Christmas mini sessions are limited to 25 minutes and take place against a 7 x 5ft backdrop, they are best suited to children and their parents. This allows us to make the most of your time and capture a beautiful variety of images without the space feeling too crowded. If you're hoping to include a larger family group, don't worry! I also offer larger Christmas family sessions with more time and space to accommodate everyone.Simply get in touch and I’d be happy to create a session that works perfectly for your family.
